You have bought a broken g60 for 1.5k? Sell sell sell and spend 3k on a minter rather than spend another 1.5k on a re-build

Mr Bmx has a point and my story goes I could not find a minter anywhere the best I could do was go to Italy buy a reasonable Rallye then spend a second mortgage on it. The QUESTION is should you really be looking for a G60 with shallow pockets. Even minters that get small parts done, cost a fortune by their owners so which ever way you look at it, you will spend money regardless. But if the engine is shot why even pay 1.5K when you are buying a shell which I reckon some Rallye shells have gone for about 2K with new powder coated parts and rust free! on it  :undecided:
Have you looked abroad and import a working one LOL?

surely if its driving fine, and there are no horrendous noises coming from the engine, it may be something relatively small causing the issue? Even if it were head gasket failure, its not the end of the world. Man up and fix it

I don't think a semi will give the same results

What do you mean by 'steam coming from inside the engine'? Surely if you're taking the oil cap off whilst it's running then you're just getting oil mist? Before you waste time and money stripping it down, do a compression test and check (and keep an eye on) fluid levels. A full service and tune up would probably benefit too. As said, if it's driving fine, don't jump to hasty conclusions about it being knackered based on a lack of knowledge.

there is some misunderstanding, the car runs perfectly, only I spot the steam when some one checked the oil,it's not the smoke, no funny noise, nothing wrong except the steam. I have no idea what's wrong is it. so I'll check the oil level, coolant and so on every time before I start the engine.
Plus, 3k can't even get you a mint 16V, MINT g60 for 3k? I really don't think so, at least I've been looking for one at least a year, everyday ebay and other web. can't find one at that price.
Mine has G60 personal no.plate, expensive alloy wheels, 100K miles with comperssor rebuilted, and plus it's one of 70 fire&ice g60, I believe it's not a bad deal.
no rust whatsoever, just need bits here and there to make it perfect that's all.
Anyway, I love MK2 GOLFS, G60 is always on my wish list, I thinks it's a history, art, not just a car.

I tried Germany and spain.....not Italy, but still, 3k is not enough. Some G60 is for sale around 2k,but you have to go there and pick it up plus other cost(before you see the car), it's added up more than 3k plus a big risk.  Maybe one day I can find a good Rallye or G60 for that price, wish me lucy. Good rallye in uk is between 12k-6k as far as I remember.
