few niggles I need to sort

Right folks I been hearing a problem over past few weeks
only seems to happen when im in 5th but today it was doin it in
2nd n 3rd aswell it seems to be some sort of whistling noise,

when i go faster
the whistling gets higher pitched if you no what i mean and its annoying
need it sorting out

also when i pulled up at home after id been cainin it down bypass to hear the noise
i could smell strong burning smell but i dont usually

and when i go down a hill n hit the brakes it sort of growls when it slows down
if its nothing to worry about i will leave it until later in the year when it gets
loads done to it but i will sort it if its easy.

but any help would be appreciated cheers

Fan belt or power steering belt may be too tight?

I think if you can twist it with your hand and the belt will ben 90 degrees you should be ok!

belts are ok they just been done power steerin may need adjustin though

i think whistlin noise is the gearbox
no oil i think is the cause as i had a slight driveshaft seal leak
it was topped up january time then i forgot about it

Is it a whistle or a more of a whining sound?

And does it happen on breaking? worse or jsut the same?

when i break from high speeds it sort of growls
i have just been outside n gearbox took 1litre of oil n never overflowed
so i have a feelin its that lol
i hope i caught it in time though
