Hot tuning coilovers - £135 on gaybay. Ride is half decent for budgets, but as said if your decking it, it's gonna be hard as Feck anyway.

cheaper the better  :wink:

gti standard suspension is fine for handling. Don't forget about the anti roll bars. Uprate them before suspension. the roll is the problem when it comes to corners. most people try to solve that problem by dropping it on it's ass.

My old car was on coilovers decked and that wasnt to bad. i may just get some cheapys the car has only 47k and had new top mounts not so long ago they look mint.

hottuning nuked my new mounts in about 3 months....i found it very harsh for everyday driving......if u want low and not bothered too much about ride quality then for the price u cant go far wrong

My Hottuning ones were put on in September 08 with new top mounts. O.E mounts that have been on since, and are still going strong. Bear in mind I'm only down about 60mm though.

They also tend to kill the rear ones really quick as well.

I have APs in the daily and can recommend them. Stiffer than stock but still very comfortable.

Dont buy cheap ones, anything under £400ish is pretty poor to be honest.
I left my HT ones on when I sent the old golf to the crusher, down low the ride was utter
sh!te, raised up was not much better.
One particular bumpy corner near me used to shake the life out of the car so much I had to slow right down as it was dangerous to go through it fast.
The new golf is std but with all new shocks and rubbers and it is so much better as it is.
If I bother to do anything to it i will go with Tweed and Dan and uprate the roll bars and rubbers, then go for some bilstien/boge non adjustable lowering kit around 30mm drop.
This will be just right for the std VR6 wheels i have and improve the handling.

In my opinion std 15" VW wheels look a bit naff when the car is really low, you must have some serious rims to sport a 60mm drop :smiley:
