If that was more available and im guessing it wont be cheap due to rarity i'd have one that is quality

Importing's not hard and you'll sell it next year at more than you bought it for.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Or as you're already blighted by a Golf3 why not get something a bit special:

My old man had a 2.0D 2WD one and while it looked nice, it fell apart, was unreliable and frankly a bit crap.

plus they are noted for major rust due to the plastic sills acting as a water trap.

They are rubbish

Elvi, that link you posted to reliability is a load of bollox, it has a picture of a Freelander on it.

To the OP, last winter we used an automatic MK3 Golf with cheapo Mud/Snow tyres on it. Didn't get stuck once, ever.

Towed a Vaxhaul openback truck out of Cotmendene estate with it as well.

Car is fine, get some decent tyres, use the natural ability of being male and save some cash.

Where all my moneys went.

Golf MK3 1.6. Golf MK3 8v GTI.

Rusty sills: http://www.jaguarforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=36189&start=30&hilit=x+type+rust+sills

The issue is that the sills are hidden by plastic covers so none of this can be seen until it is too late.

This was a 2002 car I believe

They are also noted for rust on door bottoms, bootlids etc.

I know about freelanders lol my parents lost just shy of 1k on one earlier in the year  i cant keep my golf on the road as its having some work done to the engine  :lipsrsealed:  and a bit of love spent on it, it is not an option maybe another cheap golf but i'd rather some 4x4 action this year so i dont struggle as its supposed to be very bad this year. I get your point about natural ability etc which every year i have succeded fine and some times i'm the only one to get out of our road. I also have a set of wheels with brand new tyres on already (not winter tyres) but good quality non the less which will be used up untill it is off the road. I'm not worried about saving cash either as what ever i buy will be sold once ive finished with it.

That dosn't look good tbh but then i don't really care to much aslong as its got mot and tax for the duration of winter i will then simply sell it on after  on a serious note i've had 6 golfs now its nothing i havn't seen before im used to it  i wouldn't buy one if i wasn't happy either whatever i do choose to buy will be checked over by my dad whos been in the trade 35+ years cheers for the heads up though as i didn't know they could get that bad

If i had that sort of money to burn i would get one of those or even better the mk3 vr sync although its something to think about in the future on a serious note the amount i will be spending on my golf this winter could probably buy one  :undecided: you've got me thinking now
