5k for a new car. Suggestions

All being well I have 5k for a car and 2k for insurance (manchester area, 24,  :sick: Bare in mind the mk3 is £1500 per year)
For some reason tdi's are very high insurance...? Looking for something sporty, reliable & nice to look at. So far I have considered Cooper S, TT,
Anyway suggestions as the mk3 has pretty much killed my passion for cars.  :sad:

5k for a new car? Probably only get one of those small Korean cars for 5k new.

+1 for a fully loaded Cooper S. 1 year down the line for me and haven't looked back. Plus, I've survived a year so far without needing to fit a smaller pulley to satisfy my power needs! I drive like a total tool and still get 30mpg average during the week (no motorway at all) and on m'way trips 48mpg@60mph and 40mpg@70mph.

Only issue is people think you are driving your misses car! (I had one by the way)
