My Mk5 GTI Edition 30 - mods so far...
« on: 26 October 2011, 00:27 »
I've had my Edition 30 for just under 6 months now, and have recently got the bug to start modifying it!

Here she is standard back in May after a quick clean:

Mods certainly started small with a GTI Richbrook Tax Disc Holder from eBay:

I also added a P-Torque Stage 1 remap taking the car from 230BHP up to 314BHP!!

Next, it was lowered slightly on Eibach Sportline springs, which helped firm up the handling a fair bit, and gave a slightly better stance (note that they hadn't yet settled in this pic!)

I left the car like this for 4 months or so, but regained the modding bug again a few weeks ago, so decided to splash out on some new mods and upgrade the tyres, so I added:

Philips XtremeVision Bulbs:

4 Michelin Pilot Sport 3's:

Koni FSD dampers to my existing Sportline setup and full wheel alignment:

RCD510 to replace the existing RCD300, which really was naff!

Then finally today I managed to source a set of Audi S3 front callipers, discs and pads, which are being fitted tomorrow:

The car really also needs a proper correction detail, which I'll do early next year, but I've been dabbling with a lot of products to get the best finish looks wise, and have found something I'm happy with now.

So, the car as it stands this week, excluding the brakes, which are going on tomorrow:

and my have shot...

So, still to do...

- Full correction detail and protection from GTechniq
- ITG Cold Air Intake
- Possible RNS510 upgrade
- Refurb on the Pescara's
- TBE, possibly VWR
- F&R ARB's

I don't think I'll go much further power wise now tbh as I'm happy in that respect.  I want to firm up the handling a touch further, then when the brakes are on, I think I'll be happy with it :)

Any suggestions or comments welcomed.

Thanks,

Russ.

Not enough doors but a verty sweet looking motor

Stage 1 @ 314bhp though?

Cheers :)

I thought that was about standard for the Cupra/S3/TTS/Golf R lump?  It's been running it for 6 months without issue and I had it RR'd elsewhere at 311, so seems pretty consistent.

When it was mapped, the 'before' was 241, but apparently most of them make this power, the 2"30" was because it was an Edition "30", similar to how the new Ed35 is 235BHP?

I've no reason to believe it's a dodgy figure... I can pull on most 200-230BHP hot hatches with ease.  What would you expect St1 to be?  I know the Bluefin is a conservative 285 or so?

So yours is an excellent result

Are you still on the standard clutch? any issues since remap?

i'm wanting mine mapping but not sure where to go in West Yorkshire?

also - is the RCD510 a stright swap with the standard stereo?

Thanks

Very subtle mods. Just like the Pirelli above this Edition 30 just oozes class. Very OEM+ looking.
