time 2 mod my standard mk3 16v .....what first ?

lowwer it 40mm or 35 whatever is out there

and put 17s on it

1st i'd de-badge it. 2nd lower it, 3rd 16's or 17's. Thats the plan for mine.

i'd say the mk3 is the hardest to style... not as square as the early mk1,2s and not as modern as the 4 and 5...

The way I went about it was to hunt around for mods that I wanted on my car.

Lowering before wheels is a must. Otherwise you drive around on stilts till you can afford it

Totally. mk3 's do seem harder to make look better, you need to be very subtle, less is more. It's really hard to find wheels that suit. Audi wheels seem to suit best. competitions,s3, rs4 or 5 stars.

Bit OT but while we're talking about badges. Why does my Mk3 16v not have a 16v badge on the grille ? Or a Gti one for that matter ?

I think there are some posts about 16v badges somewhere. some had them some didn't. they just clip onto the grill and are easy to remove so maybe yours was nicked at some point?

If i had a 16v or vr6 i'd debadge it and scare the sh!t out of the vrs posse.
