Mk2 16v engine removal
« on: 25 October 2011, 13:48 »
Thanks in advance guys

Could someone provide me with a link with step by step process for removing my engine. Preferably with pics.

I'm a complete layman but have plucked up courage to do engine swap to 2.0l

My issues are how to jack and where to place axle stands (if required)

- can't get a jack as it stands under the front of car to support engine.

- how to undo engine and wheel out

Apologies for my lack of knowledge but thanks once again

Shiv

if u can get hold of an engine crane its loads easier. just need to undo exhaust. take the front end off. support engine and undo the front engine mount. (15,, i think) and the gearbox mount is visible its another 15mm bolt.
the engine rear mount is near the brake servo with 3 bolts holding it in. bit fidaly with the inlet manifold there but easy enough to get. then lift with the crane and pull out.
my build thread may have pictures of some of the steps when i changed mine
