Air ride, heavyweight

Looking to throw away my coilovers and put in its place the Air lift kit that Gwerks supply, it looks too good!!

but how much weight will I be adding to my car?

I bought my mk2 back in the day because i loved the nimble chassis and I dont want to make my mk2 a lazy lump.

It's not that heavy to be honest. Unless your mk2 is a track car then you'll hardly notice the difference.

Air is not for the track, properly set up coilovers/macpherson struts is where it is.

The tank, boot build (if thats your cuppa), compressor and manifolds will be where the weight is, as the air shocks are about the same weight as coilovers.  As for the air lines they weigh bugger all as they are plastic, and the management is also light and will live either in your centre console or dash.

I am not tracking my car but would like to to handle better. Gwerks claim that the air lift kit has good handling characteristics and then they go into all sorts of details..in the end i was sold on the topic,and adding anti roll bars to the mix without to much weight gain sound too good...although there was a time not long ago when i thought air was just for breathing

yeah I have a feeling I wont really care after I fit it anyway  I was also thinking of trying to balance things out with a painted carbon fiber bonnet and wings and I wont have a big sound system so i believe its all good

I recon the accuair management with the ride height sensors would be epic on the track mixed with airlift struts (damp rate adjustable)

Downside to ride height sensors and accuair - You need to drill into the chassis for the sensors (not my cuppa)

Me and Lewy have tested out an Airlift kitted mk2 recently. I now think all static suspension is rubbish put it that way 
Comfy? - VERY. I dont look forward to drive the mk2 anymore as the coilies are back breaking

Prices are from £1500-ish for a setup with manual valves and about £2300 for digital setup. Digital takes the guess work out of how high and even you are rolling.

Fitting anywhere from £500 to £1500 (If you can wire a stereo and change suspension then you can fit air ride in a day)

Not looking to make a show worthy boot install when I get mine next year but hope to hide the pump and ugly air tank
