Anyone got any suggestions on this? I'd really rather not hack the car up as its completely standard but i do want some decent sound

Cheers in advance

  • Haha...I own one now!!!...And it works...ish
I built a shallow tray and fitted it to the underneath of a standard parcel shelf. I had 2 x 6x9s on it and it didn't sound too bad.

Have also replace rear 2x4 with JBL's and 5" componrt set to the front door and dash.

Lastly, as dizze says a 10 or 12" sub in the boot.

All of that cost a little under £150 and was well worth it.

  • Hello, my name is John and I'm a dub addict.
I have some nice blaupunkt speakers in the dash for the mid/high range and an MDF stealth shelf with some decent 6x9s to handle the mid/bass.  Sounds awesome and didn't cost me much :)

I put in new 6 x 4 speakers in the shelves already in the boot and also in the door speaker pods i suppose a sub in the boot would help if your into bass tunes!! personally im happy with the sound of mine and i get all the boot space too!!

I have JBL's MK2 direct replacement speakers.  They are the same shape and size as the factory speakers but are much better quality.

You can also buy speaker housings for the front from a VW dealer - they replace the pockets at the bottom of the front doors.

They only cost me about £40 from halfords too!
