1.4spi (50bhp ish) very slow but cheap to insure, oh and best/cheapest way to add power is fit a 1.6!!

idle issues are common (spi rubber mount or vacum pipes are common) and rusty sills (jacking points) are other problems

I should have said it is a 1.6 rolling Stone edition (Whatever that is) with 92k on the clock.  A bit of rust on the back where the badge was just under the light cluster and a few bubbles on the rear wheel arches, so they will be the first thing to get sorted.  That and a Key less entry system from RightCLICK, as it seems so old fashioned having to put the key into the lock to open and close.......

MOT till Sep 13 and 4 month Tax all for the princely sum of £425, which I am happy with.  It seems to be fine at the moment and pulls along nicely so I wont be messing with it at the moment as I need it reliable over the winter.

Now I know it is definitely a MK3 Ill post other relevant questions in there.

Not looking to sell as I have just picked it up as a reliable run around for the Mrs and kids.  I am hoping that as it is a simple set up it should live up to the reliable bits.  I had thought it was a MK 3 after reading through the site, so that confirms I am looking in teh right section.

This is my first Golf so I am learning as I go, are there any know faults with this type that I should be aware of, or is it just going to go on forever............

Where to start...... 

Not being a GTI you are blessed that it hasn't got lots of plastic trim.  MK3 GTIs if not looked after suffer badly with rust in these areas.

It looks very tidy in the pics so hopefully its pretty rust free.  Other bits have already been pointed out.

My other halfs sister has a polo with the same engine and it's been fine apart from the odd easy fix oil leak here and there.   As a run around it'll be a good car, just keep your eye out for rust underneath and you'll be fine.
