Gutted.
« on: 22 October 2011, 15:07 »
Hi everyone.  Last month i bought my '91 mk2 8v golf gti   ...its my first car and my first golf!...while i save up for the insurance,  its been garaged. Today, i thought i hoover it.  Get the car started etc.

Was gutted to find the car had been resprayed, ther had been over spray on the passanger side arch, in the corner where it meets the bumper. After seeing, this i checked the rest of the car and found that, the bonet had been resprayed then badly aligned (to a point wher i can get my entire finger under it )...both inside the doors had been badly fillered and sparyed.

Anyway, the point im trying to make is, i guess theres no such thing as an honest seller!..nonetheless, its a harsh lesson learnt. Have to be more careful next time when buying a car.

Thanx for reading! Lol!

rememeber that with the age of the car its rare to find an amazing one for a reasonable price!

Be happy with your purchase, and if you feel the need, save for a respray/touchup or live with it and see if you still love the car.
Very few cars are perfect but they have character that makes them personal!

if not, look at selling it on in the future when you find the next love of your life.

Enjoy your first car!  (far better than my first car)

I guess you must the ONLY person on here who has either:

1. Not asked "what to look for when buying a MK2 golf"
2. Used the search function

Just chalk it up to experience.

Fool.

It's nothing but experience now bud. Unfortunately these things happen.

One thing that springs to mind though is the condition of the A pillar. If the doors and bonnet had to be replaced to impact damage then the A pillar sits between those two panels. Finger's crossed there's no structural damage to the car and that whatever need to be replaced/fixed was panel deep only.
