How to fix an engine misfire
« on: 21 October 2011, 23:52 »
Hey people

Right after some time, thinking I had a DSG fault as per this thread

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=206253.msg1915904#msg1915904

it turns out it is a misfire. I am pretty sure it is a misfire because tonight I got the flashing exhaust light, which according to the handbook is a misfire. However I am not 100% sure because I have never had a misfire before, just going by what the handbook says. Anyway I pulled over, turned the engine off, waited 2 seconds and started her up again and the lights not flashing anymore.

I was hoping someone could tell me how to fix a misfire? I have already had the coil packs replaced under warranty.

Any advice would be great thanks.
Mrk V, GTI, 3dr, DSG, heated seats, winter pack, cruise control, rear parking sensors and now thanks to GizzyWizzy and SteveP in the MK6 section a RCD 510. Awesome!

Get the car vcds scanned to see the stored fault code then go from there.
Without traction power is nothing!

did you have the spark plugs changed the same time as the coil packs? and vcds is the best option as the previouse post
