hi all,

Im having problems, where after a week or less i have to put a litre in (today) as the light was flashing. checked the oil for mayo and the expansion tank seems fine. i think its comming from the water pump. thing is how do i change the pump? do i gota take the timing belt off? if not how do i do it? p.s i have the blue cap (changed it from the black cap) and still the same. i have noticed on the drivers side wish bone watery rust parts, but not finding any water on the floor :undecided:

any help, i would realy appreciate it

thanks

A good garage will be able to pressure test the system to confirm the leak.

Water pump sits under the alternator. Its fed from the auxilliary belt, so just need to remove that, which you will have to do when removing the alternator anyway. Easy job, just remember you'll have to drain coolant and top up which will add aditional time. Shouldnt take more that 90 minutes though tbh. I think I have a spare water pump I for a non A/C model I could be persuaded to part with (A/C have different pulleys).

more likely to be comming from the plastic thermostat housing thats under the same area of the engine.   Cam belt doesn't have to come off! :-)

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

Start the car and let it run for a little while then pull the plug of the side of the expansion tank. Mine fills with water and then hisses.. I'm going to try some silicone sealant in there!
