Timing issue Help please
« on: 20 October 2011, 21:51 »
Hi all, I have finished rebuilding my engine, it is the 2.0 8v bottom end with the 1.8 8v top end (digifant) polished and ported head, Kent cam, induction kit, lightened titanium pulleys and full stainless exhaust incl' manifold. The issue is getting it timed up. we have got it running and its really lumpy up to 2500rpm then the cam kicks in and its fine. I know high lift cam is lumpy low down but this is ridiculous. We have had to put the standard cam pulley back on as somehow the vernier was slightly buckled.

Anyway the main question how do I know whether the original top pulley wold have had the timing mark on the front or rear of the pulley. Figure it must be important as they time up in two different places. I'm wondering whether this is causing the lumpy running.

Sorry to sound a bit vague about things but I bought the car in bits and have steadily been rebuilding it from whats there. Any help really appreciated
