I would have rather stuck the 2.5 5pot in it than bother with the old 4.

Been done already

Right Hurdy. One day I come across a thread about you downsizing to a Polo GTI. The next you're looking at a 4WD VAG motor with 586hp. Where are you going I wonder...

My God! How thoroughly amazing. That guy is already a legend.
But will his car not blow up at some stage from engine strain due to such a surplus of power? I do hope not. Everything crossed.

That guy must make some serious money to be able to afford to do all that work.

Will he ever get true value back? doubt it.  Nice job though.

He seems the sort of guy who will just uprate further is something blows up. You've got to take your hat off to him.

I doubt he's too worried about getting his monetary value back. He seems to get his own value from actually doing the stuff he's doing. Money is very obviously a secondary concern. Where do you stop with something like this though?

I personally don' understand people who do this to cars like the R. I can understand someone like a friend of mine whos done it to a supra and created a 913bhp show car. http://sba-tuning.co.uk/ but a Golf R which is just a daily driving hothatch i just personally don't get it but thats just me.

Well, having read Hurdy's old ED30 threads and having read his Polo GTI threads maybe Mr OP can explain a little

Some people have just got to do what they've got to do!!

IIRC and i may have him mixed up with someone else but Hurdy cancelled a RS3 order then ordered a Golf R that basically cost him the same sort of money when he speced it to similar equipment levels. So he will probably start the modding route again with the R. Something i don't underatnad when he would have had a far better base to start from with the RS3 if power was his aim. Each to there own its just something i will never understand why waste so much money, time and effort when you could have started with a better base to start with and spent the money on modifying that if thats your passion. As i said they can do what they want i don't care one way or the other i just don't get it myself. I get what modifiers like the one i linked to is doing and why and i have had that passion and been involved with cars like that hands on myself, i just don't get these other types.
