Is VRS worth it....

Am looking at maybe changing golf in new year, nothing wrong with the old girl, just maybe fancying something else, had her 3 years which is a record for me.

Have always liked the Mk 1 Octavia vrs, but can't decide if it'd be worth changing, obviously bigger brakes, and a little more grown up I think

You can fit the bigger brakes to your MK4.......

Octavia is a Golf in drag; albeit better built in some respects

It's funny how this shares the same floor pan as a golf but tries to gain extra legroom at the rear by having thinner rear seats.  The interiors do feel a bit cheap compared to a similar age Golf but obviously that's deliberate as it can't be better or it defeats the object of a better value car. For a bit posh feeling you'd probably want leather at least.

Very tuneable cars and great value for money with a much bigger boot than a Golf... Depends what you want from a car.

For value for money nothing comes close, 180bhp 5dr hatch for around £2k against £4k for an Anni.

Well I think it is a lot better inside against Leon and Golfs, very well built and does not feel cheap.

The interiors do feel a bit cheap compared to a similar age Golf but obviously that's deliberate as it can't be better or it defeats the object of a better value car. For a bit posh feeling you'd probably want leather at least.

Sorry but I do not think this is cheap looking, good quality 1/2 leather with the vRS logo embossed (standard on a vRS btw) plus it does not feel cheap, people seem to forget it was an £18k car new.

I still don't get that point  having been in a few similar age Golfs it feels no different, also mine is on 117k now and nothing rattles or creaks so they must build them well.

You've got yourself a fine example Wayne but I found that the finishing touches are not of the same quality, for example the quality of the leather is not the same (IMO).  I don't doubt that the build quality is superior, but some materials used appear to differ.  I don't like the dash illumination, green inst it?...    Overall it just felt slightly cheaper... Don't take what I'm saying as totally negative towards the interior, its just I feel there is a difference, even if its minor.
