Going backwards.

Buying an older car that is not as good as what you have now.
Always better the devil you know. No matter how good a look you have at this Mk2 there is no guarantee you will find any faults that crop up in a week or so's time.

Besides I think what you have done to your Mk3 is way better that what you are proposing to swap it for.

Oh and the Mk2 does not have ABS so not as safe for your kids!

I see where your coming from but I like the older shape cars. I love the retro scene.
There is loads of mk3 Gris out there and mine ain't nufin special. It's just a mk3 with coilys. Lenso,s. And a cento front end. Just coz mine looks nice don't change the fact that that's all it is.
I have the chance to swap it for a very clean mk2 that I have always wanted. Mk3,s are cheap enough to buy and there's plenty of them. But a clean mk2 these days is rare. I have plans for this mk2. If I can make a 5 door mk3 look this god then I look forward to seeing what I can do to a mk2.

Exactly spot on Mate......shame as your's is a good looking Golf (shame you were not interested in a Bora ). However, no doubt the Mark 2 will look as good when you get working on it. Enjoy it after waiting for one

Thats a lot more than some do and still get in the Forum calender!

I wish you good luck then sir and I shall follow what you do to the Mk2.

No worries mate. In the famous words of dellboy, he who dares wins lol.
Would be a shame to turn in down just to always think what If.

Main thing with the mk2 is to check very carefully for rust.
got rot around the boot lock, now check gaitors from boot to roof
Also check round fuel filler pipe, ball ache to sort out

Well to be honest I love the look of the mk2 already with rhe small bumpers and all the original red trim piping and red around the grill.
It already has coilovers.
My plan is to send then G60 wheels off to be banded but now sure what I should have them banded at as I'm used to mk3,s so do I get rears done at 9j and fronts at 8j the same as some people do on the mk3,s?  Lower do some arch work and lower rhe car around them with a decent tire stretch.
Also wanted to see about having rhe wheels completely polished like chrome or maybe having them chromes. What ever is cheaper really.
I think deep banded wheels would look rhe nuts highly polished on a low black mk2
