No one can predict one day from the next,i understand your putting your kids safety first.
go and buy a range rover or some other big daft 4x4 for safety mind.
But who is to say what type of accident your going to be involved with? a bus,truck train,plane,boat,milk float,camel...........
The end of the day it all depends how you drive with the kiddies in the car.drive like a twit and you WILL be the chosen one.

I cant see there being much difference in safety between the two cars.
It is up to you to check the car is road worthy,make sure everything works.
