The original Golfball gear knob at Euro 119 would also be a wonderful buy and cheaper.
I had one of those some time ago, picked it up on another forum brand new for £30 and sold it for a little bit more
The only downside with that knob is that the stitching doesn't match the GTIs red and it isn't a straight forward swap to change the gaitors over thanks to the thickness of the knob base being different (ooooer Missus).
It'd be okay for a GTD I guess, but then again the golfball is the iconic
GTI knob ...
