Central locking, won't central lock ???

Hi one and all.
I've got a problem with my mk5's central locking. Basically it doesn't. The car will unlock on the fob, all four doors but will not lock any of them. The tell-tale on the dash is telling me that the driver's door is open as does vag com. Ive changed the latch mech as i know these are suspect but no difference. I kind of the think the fob is ok as the boot release and unlock works fine and if i hold down the lock button the windows will close still. The interior lock/unlock switch will lock pass side and rear doors but not drivers.

If anyone can shed any light on this you'd be awsome as it's like a steering wheel down the front of me trousers. Diving me nuts.

does your interior light stay on? when you say latch mech do you mean the central locking module or something to do with the door's sensor?

basically the car wont lock if it thinks the drivers door is open, or the boot. it's a safety thing so you don't walk away with your door ajar

Basically the whole shooting match inside the door. Latch, solenoid and sensor all built into the one unit. Light stays on for a minute or so then goes out.

I'm suffering from central locking fault at the moment whereby the door LED stays on for 1min before reverting to its normal flash sequence.

All the doors/boot/windows lock/unlock as usual and high line display is also showing all the doors are closed as it should be.

Had a similar fault a year ago which was traced to the door module but it disappeared after a week so I didn't get it replaced.

Looks like its a permanent problem know so will have to get it replaced.  Anyone got an idea on price?
