Apple Tv

Well just bought my second one so I can wirelessly stream my music to 2 rooms while the source is also playing in the living room but will mainly be used to watch films. Such an underrated product :)

It's good, there's no doubt and serves iTunes users well. Soon my xbox will take care of my media centre woes. I wanted a nice small PC/laptop capable of 1080p without jerking, to mount behind my TV and run XBMC or Boxee (which is based on XBMC), however the xbox is getting iPlayer, 4OD etc and already streams my music and movies from the file server...

If I were an iTunes user, I'd probably have one. Cheap enough!

Of course it's jailbroken :) running atv flash on it which opens it right up :) I also have Plex on it which is a nice interface. The obvious issue I have is no Iplayer or 4od but that can be sorted with mirroring hopefully once I get 4s or a 5

XBMC is geeky, Boxee 'just works' out of the box, but could do with more work. It now has a proper iPlayer app rather than a old browsable videos that were made available through a semi-iplayer thing they had.

Yes i agree XBMC was very geeky, i did get it up & running but just didn't like it. I tend to use the ATV flash media player now as it is very stable now due to many upgrades (atv flash black is still a beta program) I used to use Plex a lot before which is also good but does not have all the same functions since the last os update for the atv. Saying that there is now a new os update available so may change again although there is no untethered jailbreak that has been released yet
