Mapped for V-Power...
« on: 16 October 2011, 19:56 »
Just a quick question.

If a car is running advance and is mapped for higher octane stuff like V-Power and you then find yourself low on fuel with no high octane fuels in sight, is it safe enough to fill up with supermarket petrol and add something like Millers Octane booster until you can get some V-Power?

Maybe in your head, I've seen dyno graphs and logs that prove otherwise.

Better fuel = less knocks = more ignition advance = more power?

Correct, ignition advance is free power.

If I have to put normal fuel in I tend to take it easy and not give it too much stick

Mine is remapped and I only use normal unleaded, does not seem to run any better on super.

Is it mapped to use super though?

I know on the S3 fuel cap it recommends the use of higher octane fuel, they run fine without but pretty sure you get a fair bit of timing pull.
