So the wheels that are quoted as being for EOS, Passat and scirocco http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260869153832?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649, would they fit the Golf.

Unable to pick out the difference other than a bigger back axle and more space in the arches.

61 Plate GTD 5dr, Shadow Blue, 18" Charleston's, Flat Tyre Indicator, Cruise Control, Bi-xenon (With Dynamic Curve), Storage Pack, Winter Pack and RCD 510.

The offset is 39mm on those Herr_F so won't be any good for the front of the Golf. You could squeeze them on the rear but not the front. As you say, no room under the arches.

Thanks Boys and girls, purchased some new 17" VW Jetta Activa alloys off fleabay and shall be booting them with Vredestein Wintrac xtreme 225/45 R17 94H XL with rim protection.

Rims: £430 (including postage)
Tyres: £587.20
Total: £1017

Tad over the £1k budget, but think I'm overall happy with the purchase.

Note: Within the last two days of looking online sellers have pushed up prices by £15/each on these vred's, and doubled the price of the Michelin Aplin A4's for this tyre size.  Roll on winter next week!

This is far better than VW's offering:

Complete set of Meribel Alloys with Dunlop tyre - 205/50 R17 93V XL SP Winter Sport 4D

Fully fitted £1355.00 inc vat

or £1328.00 inc vat supply only.

or

a set of winter tyres fitted to your existing wheels, I have priced up Goodyear although Dunlop, Firestone and Bridgestone may also be available.
Goodyear: ULTRA GRIP PERFORMANCE 2 MS. Tyre size: 225/40/18 92V. Extra load: XL.)
£905.32 inc VAT

The German lady on the help centre phone number refused to say why they wouldn't accept the credit card and refused to accept a different credit card for the same order.  Felt a bit dodgy and for me..... if it smells like....it is!

So mytyres got my business and I purchased some TS 830 P's from some happy chappy's from (H / ')ull!

Just got my Activa Alloy wheels delivered, all packaged in the Original VW parts boxes.  AND they fit in the boot perfectly.... thought I would have to put the back seats down, maybe I don;t miss my big estate at all...

Don't forget, when the weather gets *that* bad, there's always Autosocks to get you out of trouble......

www.autosockdirect.co.uk

Or available here :-
www.roofbox.co.uk/csma  or
www.roofbox.co.uk/ukc

(And I daresay there's other organizations Roofbox have 'teamed up with' for discount....)

for an extra 5% discount on the socks
