Android ROMs, what's your favourite?
« on: 12 October 2011, 20:41 »
What you running? and on what phone?

I've been a fan of HTC Sense since I got my phone, but like ability to have more customizability than stock and don't see why I should install another launcher and disable Sense when I can have a regularly updated ROM. HTC do fail at keeping their older phones updated with the latest Sense, though they don't really need it as any version of Sense is good and well polished.

I'm running stock Cyanogenmod 7.1 with customized theme, fresh out the oven. Got to love a 2 minute download of ~70Mb and 5 minutes to flash it, boot it and restore your apps

I run Oxygen 2.3.1 on my Desire. I'm waiting for the final 2.3 before I do a fresh start as I'm in need of space. I think next time I'm going to run HBOOT and S-OFF and do a partition so I can have more internal storage.

HTC Wildfire with the most recent version of Sense HTC released for it. I like it. I can't be arsed looking at other ROMs for it as Sense works just fine. Not got many apps but do have some stuff to sync with iTunes over WiFi on my mac which is dead good.

I am running the 7 Linux Rom V5.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067016

With the Galaxian Kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1137595

Running on the Galaxy S

These run really well together, giving me fast and stable performance.

In the quadrant standard benchmark test, my phone now comes up to 2202 , before I flashed it with the above Rom and Kernel , I was only getting 850

Im not trying to start a debate here just a question about rooting. These ROMs, could there be added malware unknowingly attached?

Could be, that's why you only use those from well known sources (such as Cyanogen, who now works for Samsung).

It's like trusting whoever writes the jailbreaks for iOS, they could slip in some malware without you knowing.

There are Chinese roms available, but I wouldn't trust them as they are rife with malware
