You will find we share the same platform, the Golf R is an S3 also. So not lost at all.

True...but a 'platform' is not the same as a 'chassis'.
The Golf R and S3 drive differently - quite differently...the GTI even more so.

But, in the instance of DSG, they all suffer the same 'issues' as well as sharing the same benefits.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

Modz:
Get a manual GTI with ACC. That way you will be at one with your car and the ACC will change the suspension setting and steering feel to suit your mood and the road.
I even started a poll for you!

My mate spent all his time trying to explain to people what DSG is, its two clutches etc etc etc as when people noticed the shift lever they would ask why he had bought an automatic. So basically if you buy a DSG you have to be a bit of a   :nerd:

That's true.

I gave my wife and two of her girlfriends a lift in my DSG-equipped R about a year ago. They immediately asked "Why have you bought an automatic GTI? Surely a sporty car should have a manual gearbox?"

After several minutes of trying to explain the benefits of twin-clutch gearboxes I gave up. :nerd: I didn't even bother explaining it was actually an R not a GTI because I knew they would have said "Oh... it's an R32?". Then, I'd have to put my nerdy specs on again and explain the difference between the R32 and the R!

So, if you want to impress girls, get a manual GTI. I separated from my wife several months ago.

Another pointless thread bickering about DSG in the mk6 section, even has a moderator in it.

Lol another pointless post from the guy who appears to be lost again!

I wonder how much benefit you've bought to this section!!

I have not brought this section much at all. I was in here when it first started with my previous user name though, and helped a few people with various questions, about DSG most likely!

Hey JulesS3... didn't you have a Mk 5 R32 once? Way back in the day... when forums where good and all that.

I did indeed, also had regular use of my mums mk5 GTI (DSG  ) The R32 suited the DSG better as it had buckets of low down torque! Didnt want a facelift S3 as im not a fan, though i wanted DSG it would have cost £5k more for it, not prepared to do that!

Awaiting the RS3 to drop in price now

Yea, the old MK5 section was way better than the MK6; younger users, fun chat and people that went outside every so often
