Door Mirror. GTI

I smashed the door mirror along with the whole housing unit on the driver's side.. I would like to know how to remove the whole unit so i can replace it with a new item (not yet bought) anyone have any for sale. I have looked at the DIY section and could not find a write up on how to remove.   Help please..

easy job mate tbh just dont undo door lock cable as this can be a pain to put back. Your best just resting the door card on the floor or get someone to help u 

and ive got passneger side available lol drivers provisonally sold atm

sure that if your just replacing with another golf mirror you dont have to take the black bit off (i.e the part attached to the door). though not sure.
