1.8t vs 2.8 v6

Right I have a 99 1.8t. I've not driven the 2.8 but fancy giving it a whirl. May sound silly but is fuel efficiency horrendously different. My car is standard except from a piper cross incuction and it's been lowered by about 35mm with 18" alloys. Is it a noticeable different drive? I like the idea of 4wd too. I've scouted this forum every now and again but there seems to be many more of you guys with a 1.8t to anything else rather than a 2.8v6.

i would get the v6 4mo they are miles better than the 1.8t,plus 4wd good for snow

i`ve considered putting the running gear from a  4mo/r32 on my 1.8t, would mean changing the boot floor pan though and possibly fuel tank. too expensive so sticking with fwd. the plus side is less transmission loss

so what are thinking buying a 4mo
ill tell you fuel effiency is crap,suspension will need changing bit bouncy,r32 springs is a good way to go.
4wd is not perminant only when is needs it,
and in my own oppinion its underpowered for a 2.8v6
but i wouldnt change it for the world.

Double your fuel costs!! Sounds awesome like very good in sh!t weather All your tuning Lads will tell you stick to the 1.8t of course as getting more power out a 4mo isnt cheap and as bricey said standard suspension on the 4mo is bouncy as hell! I love the 4mo though and you can pick up a 4mo pretty cheap as people dont like the fuel costs

Okey dole. I mean I have no intention of remapping my car. The big one for me would have been the 4wd as where i live when it snows it's a b!tch. but from the sounds of it the 1.8t is a better car?
Thatd be great bricey. I know fuel economy would go down, but is it that bad?

Well no the 4mo would be better in bad weather overall i prefer the 4mo i love the noise and i dont care about fuel if you want MPG then the 1.8t is the better option

And fuel is crap you will get between 17 and 22mpg in town pending on how u drive and on a run between 25 and 30 again depends on how u drive

Tbh I don't see much more than that in my 1.8t

Well u must be thrashing it then my mates 1.8t gets about 25 to 30 around town and 35 to 45 mpg on long runs
