I drove both cars back to back and opted to go with the GTI. I found it a more entertaining drive and lighter on it's feet - more torque at the lower revs. With the Revo Stage 1 remap it's plenty fast too. Looks wise there is litte in it for me, prefer the rims on the GTI and you can't get an R in Carbon Steel! I'm sure a chipped R would be a beast though. But for that money I would rather a Cayman S.
