Ka's, who's owned one.
« on: 10 October 2011, 16:04 »
 :embarassed:

Looks like out of the affordable insurance, the Ka is the best car. I really don't want one but my mum and sister do and reckon that they'll pay towards a decent one if I put in what I was gonna buy a cheapo one for.

I'd prefer a Cinquento purely because the Ka's are just gay and my gf has one.

Anyway, any particular models to look for? Anything you would look for in buying one?

I know the engines start knocking and stay away, welded enough of them up to know they rust like it's as fashionable as skinny jeans and granny jumper wearing faggy teenagers BUT is there any particular models that have all the luxuries?

They handle quite well out the box don't they? Will probably get a going over with all the suspension bushes since I get genuine Ford bits pretty cheap.

Any views? Kells?

Cheers.

Ace little cars, handle really well

best small car out of the lot of them, even if you do look gay in them haha..

rust is bad, paint is so thin they may aswell have not bothered

Engines last forever, but its old tech on the early cars. some leak in on the bulkhead which is a known fault but ignored by the dealers, only way to fix it is removal of dash or engine. you can check by lifting the paper thin carpets haha

they are not built for huge miles or speed.. but for what they were made to do, they do it well

Been looking at way too many Zetec conversions on the internet.

Cheers mate, it is the future.

What's even worse is yesterday as my insurance is now out til I get another car, SHE gave ME a lift to the TRAIN station. I was hiding my face.

Anway, insurance on a Ka: £736. Change the registration to my 1.6 MK3 Golf, £3,346.

Fuel filler area is extremely prone to rust. They're surprisingly fun on a backroad

I had one for my first car, got it too look not bad to most people, The only problem i really came across was the rust around fuel cap, sills and boot handle. They have good handling and fairly decent fuel economy. If you were going to get one make sure its a post 2003 so its the Duratec engine

least your gf's one is black my gf's is green

now thats embarassing.

Personally i dont think it handles very well, to me it feels like the wheels are connected to the steering wheel lol. Off the lights they are quick as they are light as anything.

Shes had a few problems as of late and its only covered 30k. Had to have new coilpacks, rusting like hell, and a couple of other things needed changing cant remember what though lol.

BUT to be fair she sticks like £20 and it lasts for ages and she doesnt drive economically lol (hers is the 1.3)

Hope this helps

p.s. what about a clio? drove my mums for a couple of years was great fun. Stick round corners like theyre glued on the road and quite nippy (1.4sport)

Just been through all the cars, Clios, Fiesta's etc etc etc and the total to buy and insure is the cheapest on the Ka.

It is gonna be horrible though.

Unless I can get a Daewoo Matiz but one of my customers has one and it's DIRE.
