just found a neuspeed one which looks pretty good. its not shorter side to side, just front/back.

it doesn't require any cable adjustment after fitting so is easier to fit than the forge one and the diesel geeks one looks a right faff on. might be worth a go

Another contender:

I've heard amazing things about the twm one and will be purchasing this one in the near future. Its not side to side but me personally i do not like side to side. It is counterweight adjustable for that OEM feeling. (i.e. can either be really mechanical and notchy or smooth.)

i find the side to side action not to bad but the front to back throw is a bit much

i like the look of the neuspeed one as its a straight swap with no adjusting cables required.

i bought an audi S3/TTS OEM short shift for my car from the main dealer

should get it saturday morning. apparently its the last one in the UK and they're now on back order till mid November.

its for the mq350 gearbox so should fit mk5 onwards 6 speed golfs, and all VAG with newer 6 speed box's

audi part number is 8J0711046E. it was £27

it looks identical to the GTI one apart from the pin the cable end fits on is about 10mm closer to the centre pivot spline.

it doesn't work side to side, just front to back. for the money it seems ideal and though has a shorter throw retains the OEM feel.
