How to know if ecu has built in immobiliser??

Hi guys

Basicly i have to get a engine running in a race car and i have the wiring diagram and an ecu and can easly make the loom to suit but what i need to know is if the ecu i have has the build in immobiliser which will stop it from working without the correct bits now as its a race car i don't have a key ect and just want to be able to push the start button and off we go lol.

I have read somewhere that i could have an ecu without but i need to be sure so thought i would join here and ask.

ecu numbers are 037 906 024 AG, 5WP4 167.

Any one have any ideas??

If it is fitted with the immobiliser is there somewhere any one can reccomend to get it programmed out?

I think knowing what the engine is might help us and save digging out ETKA.

I believe that its a 2e motor (pre/non immobiliser)

Not knowing much about VW's (we all need to learn sooner or later) i believe the engine code is ABF

Does that match to that ecu or have we been given the wrong one?

Had a quick look at that thank you for the info.

Right spent the day on the car and as i have never had any dealing with a VW before i have to admit to being a little lost.

It's an ABF engine,

Is it supposed to have a normal coil and separate ignition amp or the combined coil and amp setup?

Any one got the wiring diagram that suits which ever is the one i need?

Engine turns over and i have the injectors firing (checked with a light) so i must have the crankshaft sensor right, i don't have a spark and im sure im actually missing the ignition amp although i was told it was a complete loom and ecu to run the engine.

1996 onwards had built in Immobiliser

Amp is built into the coil. Check that as a priority, very common failure.

The 037 code suggests a Passat code part.

The ABF was never fitted to a Passat.

As already suggested, I think you have a 2E ECU which will not work with the ABF.

The ABF ECUs end in BA (non-immobiliser) and BE (immobiliser), IIRC.

Did you buy the whole lot as a running set up?

Yes it was supposed to be the right ecu for the engine
