Cruise control question
« on: 06 October 2011, 21:03 »
Stupid question, but I have a 99 1.8t with cable throttle. I was looking at getting cruise control. Am I right in thinking that this is a no go?

Aha, so it is possible, I take it it's more of a faff to retro fit than an electronic throttle. Any guides and costings? Taa

Bit off a lame scenario, there was tonnes of variations on the ECU for the AGU, also it used a special TB, from dealers this is very expensive and I've never seen one second hand. Believe only a few ECU's on the AGU supported it amongst the many variations.

Sell and buy a AUM, its the cheaper/easier option sadly

Bizarre I would have thought have cruise control and less fluctuation in the throttle would increase av mpg?

no cruise control improves mpg, the flucttions help, when your off the throttle the cars momentum is pulling the engine so your using next to no petrol.

i asked this question before but got no answer, just got told 2 tbs, but i still dont know which is the one needed, list in my boot says i had cc from new but it doesnt work on my car

From old post:

Right lads you wanted part numbers:

AGU: 06A906018G (standard)
AGU: 06A906018F (Cruise control)

G is standard, F allows cruise control. I remember discussing it with topher with his reply:

i doubt you'll find the F type, they were bloody rare.. i had an AGU with cruise but have never come across another one, it also uses a different ECU so i doubt it'll work.

aum won't work, as you need a cable operated throttle.. aum is fly by wire.
