I regular see  2 black Golf R's, one 3door and one 5 door, 2 blues both 5 door and a grey one.
I have also seen 3 Scirrocco Rs a Blue, a white one and only the other day a black one.
All in or arround Newcatsle city. Probably helped theres a few VW dealerships in Newcastle and some well paid city types.

A bit too common for me then, think i'll stick with the GTI

The leather on the door panels and arm rest is this normal on the R? As i have seen misbuilds on other golfs were the door panels have been leather as there assembled elsewere on the production line then added to the car.

Neil. Theres quite a few R's round Newcastle i see quite a few regular.

I mine has leather on the door pads and the centre console arm rest too. Even though it is cloth!  The chances of the wrong door pads being fitted these days is probably remote, especially on a 5dr. It does happen though  and QA should pick that up. They have even sprayed cars the wrong colour

Congrats fella on the new R-rival

I've not seen one in the flesh on the road to date. I'd love one so I'm green with envy.

I love the Golf R, it's a toss up between one of those and an Audi S4 for me next.

RS3 is a car i'd love to own, it's in a different league to the R by a long chalk though - performance wise...

Thanks guys!

Another day - another 40 miles or so.

I'm still adjusting to the engine. GTI to R almost feels like coming from a punchy diesel to a 1.0 3-cylinder - in high gears at low speed that is. DSG doesn't help by going into D6 as soon as possible. So I leave it in S

ESC can be switched off now. One touch switches off the traction control, keep it pressed for a couple of seconds and the ESC switches off. I remember reading about that some time ago. It probably just delays ESC for a second or so but still can kick in if needed.

I'm not sure if the door leather inserts should be there or not but combined with the leather armrest it looks like a production intent.
Golf GTI VI DSG - died on the road, resurrected, came back as zombi, sold
R - rising blue, 5-door, DSG, ACC, something something...
