eh?  Where did that figure come from?  RHD Syncro production was ~660 cars, with 115 Syncro Jettas built.

with the 1.8 8valve engine used in the earlier mk2 GTI.

I think you'll find actually it is a GU code motor, as fitted to the 1.8 Driver model.  It was never fitted to a GTI vehicle, as it's a f*cking carb engine.  Interestingly the head is also different - it has smaller valves.

This is a rare car that could be an ideal concourse or show car

Except it's got a heap of crappy mods on it, so you're unlikely to be able to get it to concourse standard easily, plus it's just another slightly weird Golf variant from the 80's.  It's not like it's a f*cking Country Chrome Edition or something, is it?

Worth under half that, especially when the lies are removed from the advert.

This seller fails to realize that throwing money at a car is like smoking.. you ain't getting your money back.. but at least its more fun and wont kill you, unless the car falls off the ramps and flattens you

cool cool car, blood sweat and tears aplenty but 17k, wow, I don't see it.  The only way I would understand it is if the car is ultra rare and the goal is concours.   I'd have understood 10k personally, but then it would be a boring place if we all thought the same, each to their own and best of luck to him.

if this is what i think it is i.e. used to be a g60 syncro then yes worth about this money unfortunately the tool who stripped out the engine and box and sold them on for a few quid has ruined those chances!
