question about application of waxes/polishes
« on: 01 October 2011, 12:12 »
so ive been building up a stockpile of goodies over summer ready for taking the car off the road for a couple months now im back at uni. ive finished all my maintenance work and now im left with the task of getting the paint looking back up to scratch. i have the following . . .

meguires
Gold Class Car Wash
Quik Detailer
2x Clay bars
Ultimate Compound
Gold Class Carnauba Plus
ultimate wax paste
2x Microfibre cloths
2x Soft Foam Applicator Pads.

i also have a bottle symol polish which i really like
and a couple chamois, and towels

im a rookie when it comes to detailing, i think ive got most of what i need to start off with but could someone give me some tips as to which applicators are best to use with which products, and any other product recommendations would be helpful aswell

Applicator wise, you want to be using something with a bit of 'bite' with the Ultimate Compound, to ensure you work it properly.  Use an MF towel to remove.

Use a softer foam pad for spreading the wax, then remove with a different MF towel.

As above. The foam pads are meant to be real good for waxes, esp non paste waxes. Put up pics of your detail

for wash - use a wool wash mitt

for drying - a microfibre drying towel

for application - a foam pad

for buffing - a microfibre clothe

and ffs DONT apply the wax with bare hands. Only gays do that with their soft vaseline dipped fingertips!

Applying wax with bare hands is another way to waste it. Top brands want you to buy more!
