Lowering! Best options? *All Done*
« on: 30 September 2011, 17:22 »
Hey all

I am wanting to lower my car, but am totally unsure on the best route to take?! I'm not wanting to take her down loads, but just enough to look perfect..

so being a 1.9 GT TDI what options are there?

Thank you

Good quality spring and shock kit with a 40mm drop will be fine.

Thanks Wayne

I have been looking at

this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120522569554?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1792wt_1037

and this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180728335273?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_3249wt_1270

I know its the more expensive route compared to coilovers, but from reading up it offers a better ride

Would these be a good combination?

Pretty sure that would be one of the best combinations. I am getting H&R (40mm) lowering springs with OEM anni shocks next week, will put some pics up. But those shocks are what I want when I get enough money and after the remap! :) Get em!

Fab! Thanks

Ok this maybe a stupid thing to ask, but i'm gonna ask anyway....

Can i just change the springs without changing dampers??? Eibach seem to think so, but then i keep reading that its best to change both at the same time...

You can but for best results you want the upgraded dampers as well.
What you linked to above is a very good choice Ive been in a few mk4's with that setup and its very nice

Its all getting too confusing for my female brain

Bilstein do 2 kinds of shocks, 1 for standard chassis and 1 for vehicles with sports suspension, which one would i need to go with the Eibach pro 30mm lowering kit?

Thanks
