Windows 7. Vs OsX setup times LMFAO!!!
« on: 29 September 2011, 21:07 »
Well ona budget for a bloody new machine to use SERATO and Reason on plus a bit of photochopperry so plumper for an i5 4gb 640gb Asus laptop over the i7 MacBook Pro that I wanted...budget difference of £750 even with 20% off the Mac

But it's 1hr 15mins later and the machine won't even let me use it until it creates a backup set of 5dvds!!! And it's only now created the ISO and burning the first disc!!!

I'd either be DJing on SERATO or making a tune on Reason by now on the Mac. Oh and also typing this on the Mac via Chrome rather than my iPhone

That's sh!tty ASUS for you (and other CHEAP brands), a clean install of Win7 takes no more than 30ish minutes, about average for copying and extracting 16Gb of data. I can provide a clean install DVD image if you want, with no OEM crap. No need to create stupid recovery DVD's.

This.

Sadly it seems the days of deadbeat manufacturers screwing Windows with sh*tware on them aren't over.

Compared to what I deal in, yes. Good quality machines are more than £500 and come with a 3 year warranty.

Thats not windows, that all the crap ASUS has added. I install windows 7 to machines daily at work and as long as its off the network it installs within 1 hour max (and thats with lots of corporate add ins included in the build)

Took me around 2 hours to install Lion to my macbook air
