driving home tonight my car died at a roundabout,i quickly restarted not wanting people to think i've stalled it and it went ok briefly then started chugging and nearly cutting out,scanned when i got home and got 16847 and 01314 i checked Ross-tech,see below,does 1 have anything to do with the other?

Check the electrical connector to the Maf sensor.

you know the light that comes on when you turn off ASR that's come on as well now,think i might have to pay VW a visit

that light comes on with a MAF fault (depending on the code). Dunno why but it does. I think it even pops a cluster DTC showing "check engine control module memory" iirc.

have a look at the fuses on the battery too :afro:

yes its ya MAF jock, mine does it now and again.  Your eng mngt light wil come on soon.  New MAF, clear fault.... all good.  Ensure you keep your receipt then if it goes again like mine has done twice, you can wip it back to the stealers for a free MAF under warranty!  :smiley:

Haven't had a chance to check fuses yet but quickly tried something,cleared codes unplugged maf started car,got a different code but car idled fine and felt ok,turned car off cleared code plugged in maf two codes straight away and car idled like a bag of sh1te nearly cutting out revs all over the place

right been out checking fuses in the pouring rain,all fuses under bonnet and inside car are fine not a dead one anywhere,but same as the other day,run car without maf plugged in runs fine plug it back in and revs are all over the place car nearly cutting out so i'm guessing its the maf? anyone got the part number i'll phone and order tomorrow hopefully be able to get quite quickly

Before putting in a new one, try spraying some Switch cleaner onto the element of the Maf sensor. What year is the car ?
