I think there is a mistake in the first table as the last entry should be Pirelli..

hmmm, odd that I used http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and came in with 45/R17 so that's what I got, where as they quote 50/R17. hmmm....

Have noticed a difference on the speedo/gps round the lanes yesterday, need to run a more steady pace test on the motorway on the way home this evening.

Can I assume from this that the Dunlop Winter Sp 4D 91H is ok for the GTD as opposed to spending more money for the 94V XL 4D.  VW Dealership locally have not been helpful.

The recommended tyres are 205 wide and not 225 so 205/50/17 would be the right tyre.
If yours are 225 then 225/45/17 would be correct.
