Hi  :smiley
Just wondered if anyone could give me advice on replacing the heater matrix??? Ok....I'm a girl so I might need help on some things that might seem pretty simple to you guys ( MK2 16v)

I know a little bit and I can read a haynes manual, doesn't mean I understand it though
My mate said you can by-pass it as it's a pain of a job?
Any advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks, Ali.

If you bypass it you have no heating at all. Not good in the winter.

It's not the easiest job in the world as removing half the dashboard is required. Get someone how has done it before give you a hand.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the reply
I think I might have to be cold for a bit as I really need my car at the mo. Is it easy to by pass then?

Yup. You'll see 2 hoses going into the cabin under the wiper panel in the engine bay. Take these both off where they pass through the bulkhead and join them together with a bit of copper pipe and some jubilee clips.

Job's a gooden.

Ahh sounds pretty easy.....even for me

So when I have the time to get it fixed properly it can be easily reversed.

Thanks, Ali.

Yup easy to revert back to the matrix when you get it fixed. I've done about 4 of these. If I were closer I would have offered you a hand.

Well I'm off for a long walk now as I had to leave the car in a car park

I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again

Hey Nick,

Job done  not quite as easy as I thought, had to get some help, strut brace was in the way a bit lol.
Anyway it works and that's the main thing.

Might have to post this question as a new post if you can't advise.......I checked my oil, it was very low on the dipstick,
went to put more in and I can see an oil level in the head.......not just oily bits, an actual level of oil in there??
The car has been played with but not sure if this would make a difference as to where the oil goes?
I sound thick but I have asked several people (men lol) and they don't know. Please tell me if I'm being stupid  :embarassed:

Thanks, Ali

Nic eone on the first part.

On the 2nd part can you get a picture? Does sound a bit odd as the stuff under the filler cap should be oily and it will fill up a bit as it drains down but they're shouldn't be an actual level in there.
