FMIC question

Has anyone on here mounted a intercooler with the radiator and the air con radiator behind it? or will you have to get rid of the air con completely? i was thinking if you have an r32 front bumper you might abit more room but play with but not sure.

Shouldnt have to get rid of anything. quite a few people for fmic on here. its a squeeze and think you may have to trim a small peice of plastic from the back of bumper. but should fit

think a few have removed the vent grills to make it fit easier too

I fitted the universal Ebay Kit to my MK4 Golf a little while ago.  I had to remove the grills and do quite a bit of trimming!

Easy job but takes time.

Quick question, Iv noticed some people on here have manage to fit a FMIC and NOT have you to cut any of the bumper or get rid of the side grills!!!

How do you go about doing this!? as I want to keep mine as STEALTH as possible

Is it the case of cutting a bit out of the 'crash bar' I believe its called so you can bring the FMIC closer to the car!?

I cut just under an inch from my crash bar and hung the intercooler as high and as far back as possible.

I still had to do some trimming to the lower bumper, i can't see it being possible to fit it without cutting!

The piping that comes with the Ebay kits aren't ideal and will fill the gap where the lower fogs/grills go.

As above the ebay fmic arent the best but they do the job if installed properly.
I will be changing the pipework myself as im not too keen on the ebay stuff and I want to keep the side grills.
I did not cut my crash bar, I drilled it and mounted the fmic to the bottom of it.
Check my bora out on the projects thread its first on the list, bottom picture. That will give you an idea of how it fits.
I am looking out for the R line bora front bumper as I prefer the stealth look too but you have no chance IMO with the ebay stuff.

Look at the THS intercooler that R-Tech sells they ain't cheap but think they will fit in the r32 bumper with little trimming that's what I'm looking to do ;)

I can confirm that the ths fmic is a great kit as got it on my car. I have had a rep r32 and now got a genuine r32 front bumper and both require trimming but less is trimmed on genuine bumper hth
