Hole in firewall?
« on: 25 September 2011, 15:44 »
I'm just in the middle of fitting a boost gauge and I'm having trouble to find the hole for the hose to go through on the firewall, can anyone help guiding me this?

have a look under the header tank by the abs unit, share the hole with the main wiring loom.

When I fitted one to my Leon (which is basically the same) I used the main loom gromit on the far passenger side of the firewall/bulkhead. I simply pushed a hole through with a screwdriver offset to the centre of the gromit as to not hit any wires. Taped the vacuum pipe to a bit of welding wire than just fed it through into the car.

Use the grommet for the bonnet release cable but make sure you reseal it afterwards.

i kinda cheated wi mine for simplicity , out through drivers door loom , through wing into bay , there is space , i used a big cable tie to poke it all through.

as already said grommet for the bonnet release cable is probably the easiest

lift the scuttle panel up slightly on the drivers side and you'll see the grommet then route down into fuse box for wiring to dimmer switch

are some guides about on the t'interweb
