hi i have spotted this near where i live,the head has cracked and it needs a new engine,there is a fair bit of rust on it,i was thinking of buying it for my bro to do up,but this guy thinks its worth a grand i was going to put a 300 pound bid or is that to much what do you think

Not a chance! A VR with a knackered engine is worth no more than any other mk3 with a shot engine. I'd say your bid of £300 is more like it.
