Advice on Alloys
« on: 18 September 2003, 12:17 »
I have recently bought a 97 mk3 gti 8v and have found some alloys that I want to fit. Could anyone tell me if the alloys decribed below will fit my car? The suspension on my car has not been changed at all. Any help would be appreciated, I'm new to this game!

The wheels are 8.5" x 18" RS4 Alloy Wheels.

Also, does anyone know where to get some centre caps for these?

Ta.

hiya,

they are going to grind the arches a treat as they are so wide. 7.5" wide TT alloys rub on the back arches of a mk3 so those are sure to. it's not impossible to sort out by any means as you can see:

but you are going to need to roll the inside of the arches a bit. a good bodyshop will be able to do it for you.

if they are genuine Audi alloys, then you could buy the centres from them although  i am sure they will cost a bit. alternatively try someone like style dynamix

Thanks JV - that mk3 in the pic looks sweet!

Excuse my ignorance with this but will rolling the arches affect the arch trim? Also, do you know if they will ristrict full lock, etc?

Last quesiton (sorry) - What kind of drop who I have to go for? I'm assuming that if I put them on the ride high would be very high. I am planning on dropping it but I don't want scraping, etc when I have any passengers.

Cheers.

Hi,

Just a few words of advice, the RS4 wheels have a 5X112 stud patern & your car will have a 5X100 so they will not fit, also the RS4 wheels bend so there are a lot of dodgy second hand wheels doing the rounds at the moment. I have fitted a set of TT comp wheels to my P-plate GTI which has Koni shocks & Eibach springs & they rub on the arches so I will have to get my arches rolled.
I Hope this helps
