Doesn't matter whether it's heated by flame, or other means, the temperature attained will be empirically the same.

Saying it depends by how much it's heated up would actually make sense.  :wink:

That's fubarred mate, in my humble opinion. Needs replaced, euro, GSF or AVS should sort you out.  :smiley:

Lot of fuss about nothing significant on this thread, simply heat the locknut up, give it a good wire brushing to clean the threads, back the nut off, and undo the TRE, if it wont undo, heat it up till it does, the steering arm itself, shouldn't need heating, so any heat transfer will be insignificant, replace TRE and nut with new...

EDIT, A propane blowtorch is unlikely to work, as temps required will not be achieved, Oxy/Acetylene will do the job...

Blow torch wasnt too bad I mange to loosen left tie rod. Haven't got room for Oxy/Acetylene yet!
But I have ruined right tie rod because I use grider too deep and destroy the treads, I try to loosen it did loose but cant take off, Time to find other manual steering then?  :cry:

Remove the rack boot and you should find the arm unscrews from the rack.
