Eh  , what heat treatment do you think they carry out on these parts that you could affect with a blowtorch and what exactly are you thinking will shear? Personally Ill go with the opinion of "most people" and ignore your advice, well meaning as it may be, it just isnt correct IMO.

I knew someone would jump on that. 
I've seen guys in garages heating them up too hot (by this I mean with Oxy not a wee piddly blowtorch), and this results in altering metallurgy which in turn can cause a weakened section of the tie rod. I double checked with a mate (time served and running his own garage for 25+yrs) and he confirmed that as a belt and braces approach, if you've used heat to undo them they should ideally be replaced.

Given that it's a fairly important bit of kit and and they only cost approx £25 to swap per side why take the risk? As previously stated I know most people won't do it but I have, hence my advice. Based on my knowledge and my personal experience. Don't see how that's "incorrect"?

It can make the metal weaker only if over heated..as said for price I'm going to save hastle and replace mine and then protect them for future..

Different people use different ways neither of the above are wrong and iirc steering arms are not even heat treated from factory it costs to much and there is no need really..

Doesn't matter whether it's heated by flame, or other means, the temperature attained will be empirically the same.

Saying it depends by how much it's heated up would actually make sense.

Woah, lot of reply and start argues! Thanks for advices today I went get a blowtorch from Homebase. I heated the tie rod, still seized, I try angle grinder and put on vice to hold, took me nearly 2 hrs to get that f**kin thing off!
Finally I did take tie rod off but think I have runied the nut?
