At a loss regarding oil pressure.HELP before i torch it.

Right lads got my missus a 2001 1.6 16V AZD with the oil pressure light on and a noisey top end.
So far i have:
Dropped sump
Cleaned out pick up pipe
Checked compression all very good.
Fitted new oil pump
Changed hydraulic lifters
Changed roller rockers
Fitted new oil pressure switch
Blew out oil galleries and ran a vac pipe down into the sump on each gallery to make sure non were blocked.
Gave it a service using proper fully synth oil with genuine filter

Gone to start it up and its rattling the same and has no oil pressure!!

Proper done my head in.Checked oil pressure and there is none up the top end.If i take the oil cap off i can feel it blow a touch mind.

Any ideas before it goes on ebay?

you cleaned the pick up pipe, are you SURE it wasnt obstructed? should have just replaced it.

other than that the only thing i can think is duff oil pump, cos youve ruled everything out

Pick up pipe was deffo unblocked as i put it in the parts washer then blew it out then rammed a vac pipe down it to make sure.

Bit of an update,while i was sat with it on tickover i turned it off and went to sulk,i came back and it is now as quiet as a mouse.
However as soon as i get to 2k the oil light/beep comes on.Ive got a homemade oil pressure tester and it doesnt read anything so just to make sure its not that i might go buy one just to double check.

Surely to make the top end go quiet there must be some oil pressure up there to make the lifters pump up.

You sound like you know what you are doing so I presume you thoroughly cleaned the gauze on the pick up pipe?

Mine was blocked with hard residue and I had to poke out each hole with a needle.

Ayup Tone,yeah i gave it a good clean out in the parts washer then blew it out with the airline tbh it wasnt even dirty no blockages or anything and the guaze was perfect but i still did it out of good practice

Yeah thats the next step i think mate,i will give it a go tomorrow,if no pressure i cant think what else it could be other than a worn engine but its only done 100k

just cos the pumps new doesnt mean it couldnt have failed, is it chain or gear driven on the 1.6?
