never sustained any injuries as i carry out maintenance correctly

 :smug:

Have you never even scraped your knuckles?

no unless you include my daily ones dragging them along the floor

If you want scraped knuckles then try working on an Audi

a few cuts from cutting speaker cable with a stanley knife, scratched knuckles, the usual stuff

the closet ive come is when i was putting a wheel back on, but the car rolled forward off the jack, as mychands were on top of the wheel, i just moved my hands when the car came down onto the wheel, had the wheel not been there, the car would of hit the floor, or had my hands been there still, i wouldnt of been able to type this now, lol

I have to get in the zone to work with an angle grinder.  They're, evil things and have seen a few accidents too, luckily for me in other persons hands.  Worst one I saw was a guy using a regular 4.5" grinder with a 2mm cutting disc, in between grinds he turned it off and put it on the floor, nothing unusual about that except he accidently stood on the disc and cracked it slightly.  Continued to use it cracked (without realising)  the disc hung on for a bit and then let go at full rpm, with shrapnel crash landing up his arm from his wrist up to elbow taking the flesh out as it landed.  Chunks of muscle and tendons destroyed and he still can't grip properly 15 years on.  He had safety glasses on but otherwise his arms were bare (T Shirt) and hadn't worn gloves.

Gear up or lose a body part or the use of one.

Other than a few cuts and scrapes, pinches and stuff I've been pretty lucky and not suffered anything major.....

A word to the wise though, if you have an open wound never ever use Masking Tape to stem the flow etc. It contains arsenic and if left in contact with the skin long enough will remove all your flesh to the bone. Seen it happen and the guy lost the bottom half of his leg because after a bad cut he wrapped his leg and didnt get it checked out until 8 hours later

to extend from my previous post, although ive never had any major accidents/injuries working on my other mates cars, ive never bothered to use PPE, i and hate angle grinders

athough at work, i refuse to do something unless im wearing the correct PPE, i wear steel toe caps 5 days a week, so its comfy trainers on the weekend
