Cyst in my knee
« on: 21 September 2011, 09:21 »
Has anyone had anything like this befor, I have been sffering with my knee locking, giving way, when i play rugby it was taking me ages to get up as my knees where weak

I have just got back from the doctors and they are referring me for a MRI scan, Xray and physio so at least they are doing something for me

Suppose it the joys of playing rugby from a young age and been a sprinter and doing loads of exsplosive weight training on my legs

let me know if you have ever had any problems and what to exspect

I've had on on my foot just under the 3rd metatarsal bone. Sometimes i would struggle to walk on it! I was told that if i want it removed i can have it removed, still there and not given me any grief yet.

yeah... had x-ray, mri & three knee ops after my knee kept giving way all the time...

op 1 - remove 5x2cm cartilage hanging off the back of my patella
op2 - harvest cells for op3 - these were then grown on a mesh in a lab
op3 - full open knee surgery to implant grown cells on back of patella on a mesh glued in place

followed by two months in a full leg brace non-weight bearing and 12 months physio

the stronger your leg muscles are the better your recovery will be

what I had was Osteochrondritis Dissecans - irony that it is also known as OCD! was always told that the knee problems I had were 'growing pains' by doctors etc

got video of the ops somewhere... If I find them I will upload them!

A lot of people are like that bud.....scared of needles.  I have seen big bodybuilders drop once they saw the needle with the steroids in.....I used to inject myself, also site injections so biceps, chest, traps, calfs, quads etc have all had a green pin in them sometime or another

Bunch of pussies. I've had over 10000 injections, 99.9% of them have been self-administered. Insulin dependant diabetic since 1984...

As for the knee thing, I damaged my anterior cruciate ligament playing indoor cricket (ironically 2 days before a university rugby trial!!) and had crutches for a while and loads of physio. Never been the same since. It's strong enough but I have never played contact sports since under the specialist's advice. So no rugby for me. Boo...

Keeping schtum. Mostly.
